Davie and Kev are running 12 Marathons!

Davie and Kev have taken on the amazing challenge of running 12 marathons across 12 months for 12 different charities throughout 2025! Their fundraiser (titled 12x12x12) is well underway and COVEY are incredibly grateful to be one of the charities they have chosen to support. We can’t wait to support them both on the 28th of June when they run on our behalf!

We were recently in touch with Davie and Kev to find out a bit more about them and their motivations for taking on such a huge challenge.

How do you know each other?

We have known each other for 25 years having met in 1999 and serving together in the Royal Tank Regiment. We served in the same Troop for a number of years, completed our commander’s course together, played football and coached football together.

What motivated you both to take on this amazing challenge?

I have taken part in a charity event every year since leaving the army (apart from last year). So, I felt that I wanted to do something extra. I decided that running 12 marathons for 12 different charities would be a great challenge to try. We felt it would enable us to help as many people as possible under one event banner. (Davie)

When I found out what Davie was doing, I immediately jumped at the chance to support him! (Kev)

What made you choose COVEY?

The idea was to have other people nominate the charities/ organisations we would run for. Our good friend asked for COVEY and we were happy to oblige. COVEY do some amazing work to support children, young people and their families and they, like the other charities, require much needed funds to continue their mission. We are more than happy to help!

What do you hope to achieve by completing this challenge?

We hope to raise as much funds as possible for the charities and raise awareness for them along the way. There has also been a number of people contact, wishing to run alongside us in a marathon, so hopefully we are able to inspire people to get out running and enjoy the benefits of exercise.

Is there a specific message you'd like to communicate by taking on this challenge?

Anyone can achieve anything if they put their minds to it.

What do you think will be the most rewarding part of all of this?

We’d love to learn and understand what the money raised does to benefit the charities we are supporting. We get a lot out of simply knowing that we helped to contribute to the amazing work these charities do.

What challenges do you anticipate?

This will be a true test of our physical and mental resilience!
