Come on an outing with Flourishing Families

As part of COVEY’s Flourishing Families Project, pupils from Glenlee and Udston Primary Schools recently enjoyed a trip to M&D’s amusement park and bowling!

This Project, which is supported by the STV Appeal, helps our young people who are transitioning from primary school to high school. It gives them opportunities to improve their wellbeing and self-esteem, develop their skills and interests and build on friendships.

At a time of so much change, our young participants reflected on how the group has helped them. For some, the group makes them feel like they are not alone:

“I don’t feel as nervous about going to High School. I was worrying, but then I heard other people in the group talking about their worries. So, it helped because it wasn’t just me.”

For others, being part of the group has improved their confidence, helping them make friends and become more open to sharing how they feel:

“It’s just fun. I think that’s why it’s helped me. We play games. I’ve made two new friends who will be going to the same High School as me. It’s good to know I’ll have friends when I go. I was a bit quieter when I started and now I think I talk more…a lot more!”
