COVEY's Kinship Care Group head to Flip Out!

COVEY’s Kinship Care group went along to Flip Out in Glasgow, where they had a lot of fun together! COVEY has supported some of these young people for many years and these weekly sessions have come to mean a lot to them. Some of the young participants took time to reflect on their time with the group.

What have you enjoyed most about the group?

“Meeting my friend James because I would never have met him if it wasn’t for COVEY. Every week we do snack time and you get to share what’s going on in your life this week or what’s coming up and then you also get to hear other people’s stories, so it’s really fun and a good way to get to know what people are like around you.” (Cameron)

“I especially liked Pizza Hut and Flip Out because I don’t get a chance to do that unless I’m with COVEY.” (Lexi)

Have you changed since starting with COVEY?

“I feel a bit calmer because I can trust all the people around me and I know they’ve got my back. Sometimes I used to find it hard to go up and talk to someone, but now I can go up and make friends.” (Cameron)

“I’ve interacted with other instead of just sitting myself and I’ve made lots of friends. It’s brought me out of my shell.” (Lexi)

What do you think is good about COVEY?

“It’s very fun, it’s a good time to get out of the house because you’re actually doing stuff, you’re interacting, you’re making stuff, you’re learning. It teaches you to work with others and talk to other people and be more confident.” (Lexi)

“I would say it’s really fun. It’s not just a group full of a certain kind of people, anybody could come and have a great time because people in the group are safe, they’re fun, they’re just a joy to be around with.” (Cameron)
