It’s been lovely to welcome some new people to COVEY recently. Some of our newest team members kindly shared a little bit about themselves and their reasons for choosing COVEY.

What made you choose to join COVEY?

The reason I chose COVEY was I had heard some amazing things about the charity and what they had been doing in the community. I really wanted to continue to develop professionally and thought COVEY would be the perfect organisation to do that with.

What have you enjoyed so far at COVEY?

I have really enjoyed the mentoring I have already received from my project Lead. As well as also enjoying the team orientated nature COVEY instil in everyone.  It is already apparent that everyone helps everyone.

What are you most looking forward to at COVEY?

To learn and develop from everyone I can within COVEY and help as many of the young people and their families as I can.

So far I have enjoyed working with the Young People and observing how they, volunteers and staff members come together to create a welcoming environment.

Donna

Family Support Worker

What made you choose to join COVEY?

Before COVEY I spent 2.5 years working in residential childcare, but as my son was approaching school age, the shift pattern, early mornings and late nights no longer suited my family. I wanted something similar in terms of supporting young people, but something that gave me a better work/life balance. COVEY is perfect for that!

What have you enjoyed so far at COVEY?

Meeting everyone - staff, volunteers and participants - and finding out more about the individual projects and support they offer. It’s been lovely to begin building relationships with the young people and parents I am supporting.

What are you most looking forward to at COVEY?

I am looking forward to growing within the charity and furthering my knowledge through training and experiences.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

In my free time I spend it with my partner and kids. We enjoy days out and holidays and the occasional night out with friends. I feel like I’m mostly doing housework and washing though!

Do you have an interesting or unusual fact you can share?

About myself? Unfortunately not…but I can give you some about an octopus. They have 3 hearts and 9 brains and they can taste with their arms!
